Keep up the great work and good luck!PokerFiendhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH3wNqCyphAnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-819270169763743770.post-70613124427958425252011-03-19T01:41:51.987-07:002011-03-19T01:41:51.987-07:00Crikey...I've been humbled twice and it's ...Crikey...I've been humbled twice and it's not even 8.00am yet!

Hi Matt,

Had no idea you read the blog and thanks for doing so, and commenting.

I can see why you might feel the need to don your union hat, but what I was saying about getting more involved with Cheltenham wasn't a criticism of the tipsters (although I can see why it might be seen as such, now I've re-read it!). I have enough understanding of horse racing to know that there are often more value opportunities at the big meetings and so I can see why the racing tipsters get more involved and give more tips/stake more heavily. What I was trying to say was that when this happens across a number of services in the portfolio, it throws me right out of my comfort zone. I can handle having four or five tips in the big handicap at weekends, because it only happens once a week, This week it's happened in about 80% of races!

Now this means one of two things - I either just get used to it, stop being a big Jessie and deal with it on a personal level, or over time I change the emphasis of the portfolio slightly to achieve a slightly different balance. It is the need to make that decision that I was trying to get across in the post.

I'll need to clarify this in the blog next week, I think.

Anyway, pleased to see you turned a profit on your Cheltenham special - I didn't back them of course...don't think I could have handled any more on the racing (lol).

Cheers,

Rowan

PS. I'm pleased Rich is getting his old form back. One of the good guys. And you never know in the future, I'm not too proud to be the prodigal one and come back, cap in hand!

Hi Andy,

With words like that, don't be a stranger...comment whenever the mood takes you! (lol).

Seriously though, I'm pleased you're enjoying it so far.

Shame you missed out on Zarkandar but over time, 4PA will do you proud, I'm sure. As you've probably read, it's been by far the best racing service for me for over six months now. I keep telling myself that a real correction is due and when it happens, it is going to hurt a bit because of the way the service is staked. The stakes even themselves out with the other services over time, but it always feels more intense because the bets are only coming through for the big races and therefore the £/point value is much higher than for the other services who tip on a daily basis. This is why I had always thought that ultimately for me, Cheltenham performance would largely be dictated by 4PA performance, and so it proved.

I've been with PJA NH for a couple of years now. They were one of the first I joined. This is a very bad run they're on but I've seen bad runs before and they've turned it around. If I know Paul, he'll be working extremely hard to do just that.

Thanks very much for the nice comments - it's a nice way to start the day!

All the best,

RowanTPIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08267151875715791707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-819270169763743770.post-56352430659571308282011-03-19T01:04:06.381-07:002011-03-19T01:04:06.381-07:00Amazing blog writing mate. Really been enjoying it...Amazing blog writing mate. Really been enjoying it since stumbling across it last week. Like yourself i am a loyal SBC member.

Happy that you ended the festival on a profit, better than i did. I am following 4PA and PJA as horse tipsters and boy is PJA NH struggling right now. I missed the successful Zarkander ante-post bet so ended a few points down with 4PA myself this week. But enough about me.

I just want to praise your high quality blog which to me is the most informative and interesting "sports betting investment" blog out there.

Keep it up good man.

AndyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-819270169763743770.post-41656168265660595082011-03-18T15:52:05.348-07:002011-03-18T15:52:05.348-07:00Putting my tipsters union hat on here........
To ...Putting my tipsters union hat on here........

To be fair to your racing services, personally I'd say you have to change your strategy for the really big meetings. I bet regularly in handicap hurdles and my strategy for run of the mill daily meetings is a lot different to my strategy come Cheltenham, Aintree etc as the make up of a race is totally different.

Personally I feel the big meetings are the ones that offer the biggest opportunities so I try and up my bet number and stakes.

Assuming the services you follow feel the same that may be why you have seen a difference from the norm.

Great blog btw, fills that JP shaped void nicely!

Matt (FE)Matt (FE)noreply@blogger.com
