Audits.

I'm going to have to write about "Tipsters vs Personal Edge" when I get the time. It's an interesting subject that deserves proper attention being paid to it, rather than a half-hearted rush job.

I got an email from a friend last night who had noted that my 888Sport account had been closed. The same had happened to him that day, and he was struck by the coincidence. Certainly it seems strange, and has given more weight to a theory I had a little while ago, that bookmakers often perfom an audit of their customers' accounts at certain times of the year. If they find any accounts that are costing them money, or perhaps who display certain traits, they heavily restrict or close them down.

I remember my Ladbrokes account was closed down earlier this year, and within 24 hours there were posts on the SBC forum from other punters who had been using the Magic Sign experiencing the same. Ditto with Boylesports, with whom I'd surprisingly had a fairly decent run, using the account purely for horse racing and never for football. Whatever, the end result is the same.

Tuesday's Betting

Another solid profit.

Northern Monkey
Just the one, very small racing bet yesterday, coming courtesy of NMP. No returns.
Staked 0.25pts, -0.25pts

Sportyy
One bet, one winner (Young to bt Lu - 6/4 and 11/8).
Staked 1.5pts, +2.145pts

On The Oche
It's the European Championships this week, an event that seems to have been created purely for the benefit of the bookmakers. It's streamed on about a zillion different bookmaker sites but from what I've seen, there doesn't appear to be a live audience. Perhaps there is and it's hiding.

Anyway, I remember from last year that OTO adopts a certain strategy for this event, and I remember it worked well in last year's event. It's got off to a profitable start this year too, although only a small profit on Day 1.
Staked 1.4pts, +0.234pts

Service X
One small bet in the Copa Sudamericana that provided a touch of profit.
Staked 2pts, +1.493pts

  1. Re books going through "purges" - they most certainly do. Some just close you down as you go along or reduce your stakes ad hoc but there are those who have a general clear out once in a while!
